Kazak rugs originate from the rugged highlands of the Caucasus and are celebrated for their bold geometry, symbolic motifs, and powerful visual presence. From the 16th through the 19th centuries, these rugs emerged as expressive village weavings that reflected tribal identity, spiritual beliefs, and daily life, earning a lasting place in the history of traditional rug making.
Today, this historic tradition is preserved in northern Afghanistan, where skilled women artisans continue to hand-weave authentic Kazak-style rugs using time-honored techniques and classical design language. These rugs honor the original Caucasian aesthetic while offering the warmth, character, and individuality of true village craftsmanship.
Each rug is entirely hand-knotted using the Turkish (symmetrical) knot and woven from high-quality, hand-spun mountain wool. Sourced from sheep raised in high-altitude regions, the wool is naturally rich in lanolin, producing a thick, resilient pile with a soft texture and natural sheen—built to withstand generations of use.
Dyes create rich, enduring colors that age beautifully over time, developing depth and harmony rather than fading. The result is a timeless rug that bridges ancient tradition and modern interiors.
More than a decorative piece, a Kazak rug woven in Afghanistan is a cultural artifact—an investment in heritage, authenticity, and enduring craftsmanship, with each hand-tied knot telling its own story.
